Cheering for an Alcohol and Drug Free Environment! 12.12.2011 Cheering for an Alcohol and Drug Free Environment!
The Central Nebraska Coalition Against Substance Abuse (CNCASA) and the Two Rivers Public Health Department have donated pom-poms to 14 schools in their six county coverage area (Dawson, Gosper, Harlan, Franklin, Kearney, and Phelps counties) to encourage students, parents, adults, and others to “Cheer for an Alcohol and Drug Free Environment.”
Each school was given poms in their schools colors to be reused at all sporting events or other school activities. The schools were provided with a container to store the poms and the public is encouraged to use the poms during the event and return them to be reused at the next event. The schools included in this project are:
· Dawson County: Lexington High School, Cozad High School, Overton Public Schools, and Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Public Schools.
· Gosper County: Elwood Public Schools
· Harlan County: Alma Public Schools and Southern Valley Public Schools
· Phelps County: Holdrege High School, Loomis Public Schools, and Bertrand Community Schools
· Kearney County: Wilcox-Hildreth Public Schools, Axtell Public Schools, Minden High School
· Franklin County: Franklin County Public Schools
CNCASA encourages those over the age of 21 to “Take a Stand” between youth and alcohol by not providing alcohol to minors because it is illegal and harmful to the health of our youth. CNCASA encourages youth to “Stay Above the Influence” of alcohol and all types of drugs.
CNCASA is a group of community members from six counties who share a common goal of reducing underage drinking. If you would like to volunteer with CNCASA, contact Audrey Sinn at the Two Rivers Public Health Department.
