Lexington Students will participate in Dental Day XIX
53 students from Lexington will be participating in Dental Day XIX at the UNMC College of Dentistry in Lincoln on Friday, February 4, 2011. In December, Drs. Fagot, Mandelko, and Hansen and their staffs, and Julie Niles, RDH volunteered their time and supplies to work with the Lexington Public School nurses and Two Rivers Public Health Department to screen the students for the trip to Lincoln. Students will receive free fillings, extractions, root canals, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants and are able to participate in educational sessions and activities while at the college.
The students and sponsors will board the bus at 6:00 am on Friday morning for the trip to Lincoln and return to Lexington at 6:00 pm. Sponsors for the trip are: Linda Meins, RN, Ray Otero, Administrator, and Jennifer Colomer, para educator with the Lexington Public Schools, Terry Krohn, Director of Two Rivers Public Health Department, Sally Huesinkvelt and Rafaela Ramirez.
Dental and Dental Hygiene students and instructors from UNMC College of Dentistry and Central Community College will provide the free dental care in Lincoln. This is the eighth time Lexington area students have been selected to participate.
