Medicare Part D Prescription Assistance
Two Rivers Public Health Department Public Health Nurses Kerrey Miller, RN and Laurie Pehrson, RN have been busy assisting constituents of their seven county coverage area of Buffalo, Dawson, Gosper, Phelps, Kearney, Harlan and Franklin counties with the new Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. This new prescription drug plan sponsored by Medicare was launched on January 1st, 2006 and open enrollment lasts until May 15th (enrollment after than date would result in a 1% penalty per month on the premium). Medicare Part D is being run through enrollment with private insurance companies approved by Medicare. In Nebraska, there are 42 drug plans available for Medicare-eligible individuals to choose from. However, one needs to pick the plan that will cover their prescription medicines and is accepted by their pharmacy. Therefore, finding a plan can be a daunting and confusing task for some individuals. If you or someone you know would like more information or help with this new Medicare Part D prescription drug plan, you are more than welcome to contact Kerrey or Laurie at #308-995-4778 or #877-856-5585. Remember, if you or someone you know have already enrolled in a plan and you are not satisfied with its coverage, you can switch one more time before the May 15th deadline.
